[ Perhaps it's a bit old-fashioned, but the message arrives for Hermann via mockingbird. Sealed closed by a wax mockingbird sigil, the letter is hand-written in careful cursive. ]

Dear Doctor Gottlieb -

We have not spoken before, but my name is Petyr Baelish. I serve as the ambassador for Maurtia Falls. I write to you on behalf of a project I am working on within my city. Construction has already begun on rebuilding a much larger library, but I wish for this to be more than simply a bigger structure. I hope to inspire education and the spread of knowledge to the natives of Maurtia Falls as well as provide an invaluable resource to new arrivals here. But more than that, I wish to use it to pay homage to the natives who lost their lives within Maurtia Falls due to imPort related tragedies. Their names will be honored within the library itself and donations will be set up to be made to the families.

For this project to succeed, I need your help. If you are able to donate anything at all to the cause, it would be most appreciated -- whether that is books, money, or simply your time. I plan to put programs into place once the library is finished to have imPorts come in and teach valuable job skills to adults. With your scientific expertise, I believe you could be a great asset to the program.

I'd first like to offer sincere congratulations on the construction of your rebuilding project. Promoting education is ever a wonderful cause, and I applaud your initiative as the Maurtia Falls Ambassador.

I regret to say that I can't commit any books or funds to this project at the moment, as my fiance and I are currently finalizing plans for our wedding ceremony and furnishing our new home. As such, my time is also regrettably limited and I'm not altogether certain I have any sort of applicable job skills to teach. One of my abilities may assist in construction at the very least however, and so I will endeavour to stop by at some point in the next few weeks.

Prison Letters - May 2017

[Excerpt from a letter dated early May 2017 and delivered to Hermann in prison. Handwritten. The beginning talks about the mundane: lunch and dinner, new projects, work at HOPE, Liebling's activities, and the new throw pillows he bought for their livingroom.]

...

I keep thinking about all the things I want to do to you, with you, when you get home, but it really comes down to a desire to hold you, uninterrupted, for an entire day. Lounge around in our underwear or pajamas, sex optional, enjoy the sunset and sunrise and the stars. Breakfast in bed like we're rich and famous. Talk theory and debate. Put on a concert just for you.

I want to do all kinds of frivolous things. Allow ourselves to waste time a bit, indulge, sate desires and impulses we'd backburnered so long that they've divided and multiplied (in a cellular sense. Not ecclusively the mathematical definition of those words). Desire for each other, yes, but also--a bucket list, I guess.

I don't know about you, but I didn't find time for that sort of thing during the war.

Given our chance now, we can with each other.

In the absence of our powers, I want to reacquainte ourselves with the silence, with supplying our own connection, like we have through your window each visit. Last year around this time, we got our suppressors and got to experience that painful but kind of enlightening disconnect... We could explore it when you get out, however long that limitation is required to last. Rediscover each other, I guess.

I enjoy rediscovering every inch of you.

A private shower. I'd give nearly anything. I'm told it starts becoming normal but I'm not going to be here that long- and I'm still not certain I'd ever reach that point. I've never detested showering so much.

But despite all that, I miss you the most. Now that I know you're here I grow increasingly impatient with my sentence. Nothing for it of course, but I look forward to holding you again, relaxing on our couch, in bed, or the balcony. I'd never felt more content and such robbery of it seems cruel.

In terms of a bucket list, we've already fulfilled a number of them on mine- a few of them thanks to you. I'm happily married, we have a lovely house in the country..

Oh Newton, I can't possibly wait to get out of here and be simply be able to touch you again. The glass each time you visit is maddening.

I hope you're taking care of yourself.
